Asheville - Jeanette Sinclair Hughes, 95, of 9 Pine Knoll Drive, went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 11, 2007 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Lancaster County, SC, she had resided in Rutherford County before moving to Buncombe County in 1949. Jeanette worked as a textile worker for Burlington Industries. She was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Jeanette was the daughter of the late William Burdet and Ella Henrietta Rollins Sinclair and the widow of Waites Waye Hughes. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Hughes, and a grandson, Lonnie Trantham. Surviving are her children: Betty Trantham of Asheville, Doniese Goodnough of Leicester, Janis Sprouse and husband Hilliard of Asheville, Jim F. Hughes and wife Sarah of Asheville, and David Hughes of Asheville; sister, Maggie Stacks of Lancaster, SC; 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 14 great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, and at other times the family will be at her residence.
