Jeanette Kennedy

Mount Airy Ruth Jeanette Reece Kennedy, 91, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her home. A native of Marshall, she was a daughter of the late Jeter Gaither Reece and Leila Burnette Reece and wife of the late Herman Edgar Kennedy, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Viola Reece Greene. Mrs. Kennedy was a Registered Nurse and worked many years volunteering with Surry Baptist Association/Surry Baptist Womens Missionary Union and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Airy. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. Surviving are her children, Deborah Martin (Scott) of Pilot Mountain, Carla Harold (David) of Mount Airy, and Timothy Reece Kennedy of the home; 6 grandchildren, Josh Hiatt (Tiffany) of Kernersville, Hannah Edmonds (Jody) of Pilot Mountain, Matt Hiatt (Ashley Johnson) of Mount Airy, Jennifer McNeilus (Chris) of Mebane, Ben Harold of Mebane and Charles Harold (Dejah) of Raleigh; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Zora Hays (Bob) of Weaverville; brother, Roland Reece (Bonnie) of Weaverville; special friend, Mary Jane Shelton and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Grandview Baptist Church in Marshall with her nephew, Rev. Steve Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services at the church.
