Jayne Horton

October 10, 1947 — November 27, 2018

Candler Delores Jayne Proffitt Horton, 71, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, she and her husband lived in Goldsboro, NC, North Dakota, England, and Wyoming before returning to Buncombe County. She later retired from J.C. Penney following 30 years of service. Mrs. Horton enjoyed traveling and visiting the beach. She was a member since 1980 of Westwood Baptist Church where she was very active with the Childrens Church, the Womens Tea Ministries, Mission Friends, and was the VBS Director, a choir member, and served on the kitchen committee. Mrs. Horton was the daughter of the late William Robert Proffitt and Jessie Mae Grindstaff Proffitt and was also preceded in death by her brother, Doug Proffitt and sister-in-law, Kathy Proffitt. Surviving are her husband, Tracy Horton of the home; daughters, Michelle Pittman and husband Keith of Old Fort and Nicole Adams and husband Larry of Weaverville; grandchildren, Zachary Coltharp and wife, Nikki, Andrew Pittman and Olivia Adams; great grandchildren, Justin Coltharp and Carson Coltharp; brother, Bill Proffitt of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, Shelia Proffitt of Hendersonville and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 6 PM Friday, November 30, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Black officiating.
