Janie Lee Mccall

Asheville Janie Lee McCall, 74, of 26 Joshua Ridge Road, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at her home. A native of Transylvania County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1972. Ms. McCall retired from American Enka in 1996 as a machine operator following 33 years of service. She was a passionate blood donor, supporting the American Red Cross for over 30 years. Ms. McCall was the daughter of the late Edward and Levi Morris McCall. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Joyce Wilson. Surviving are her daughters: Betty Gonzalez and husband Justino, Judith Rice and husband Jerry, Cathy Sprouse, and Deborah Henson and husband Charles; grandchildren: Gene and Jeremy Rice, April Diaz, Malina Sprouse, and Tanya and Amanda Crow; great-grandchildren: Katlin Rollins and Alexandra Diaz; brothers: Tom, LeRoy and Jim McCall; and sisters: Shirley Pittman and Margie Raysik. Memorial services will be held at 6 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dallas King officiating. The family will receive friends following the services.
