James Lee Ball Sr.

July 16, 1947 — July 26, 2006

Asheville James Lee Ball, Sr., 59, of 14 Crockett Drive, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the owner and operator of Balls Amoco and Jims Garage. He was the son of the late Robert A. Tony and Lola Wright Ball. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Diane Black Ball, of the home; three children: James Ball, Jr. and wife Michelle of Weaverville, Tammy Ball Roberts and husband Tommy of Oakley, and Robert A. Tony Ball and wife Danielle of Black Mountain; grandchildren: Stephanie Ruff, Brittany Penley, Jordan Ball, and Amanda Crowder; sister, Judy Clark of Charleston, SC; and brother, Charles A. Ball of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Honeycutt Cemetery on Georges Fork Road in Burnsville. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Saturday at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of James and Diane Ball, 14 Crockett Drive, Asheville. In life I loved you dearly, in death I will miss you forever. In my heart you will have a place no one else can fill. You did not go alone, for part of me went with you. If I could have one lifetime wish, a dream that could come true, I would pray to God with all my heart for yesterday with you. His battle is over, but his victory he has won, as he now resides in the House of the Lord.
