Asheville - James Hubert Hendrix, Jr., 75, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a short illness. A native and resident most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired in September, 1972 after 21 years of service from the U.S. Army. Following his retirement he worked at the Holiday Inn Airport and as a Security Guard with Burns Security Company. He was the son of the late James Hubert Hendrix, Sr., and Missouri Kansas Hollifield Hendrix. Surviving are his special friend and caregiver for over 13 years, Winona Clark; his sister, Louise, sister-in-law, Barbara and several nieces & nephews all of Asheville. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Carl A. Frady officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Erwin High School Jr. ROTC. No formal visitation is scheduled, however, friends may visit at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
