James Earnest Conard

Asheville James Earnest Conard, 78, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at his home. A native of Waynesville, Mr. Conard had resided in Buncombe County since 1948. He was the former owner of James Conard Grading, and was a US Army veteran. Mr. Conard was the son of the late Arthur Allen and Rosa Bell Medley Conard. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Claude Allison and J.D. Conard. Surviving are his wife, Cristina D. Conard, whom he married August 10, 1957; children: Jimmy Conard and Maria Conard, both of Asheville; grandchildren: Laurie Honeycutt and Scot, Cristina Anelli, Lee Conard and Renato Anelli; great-grandchildren: Payton Honeycutt, Sydney Honeycutt, Demetris Anelli, Valentino Anelli, and Isabella Anelli; sister, Hattie Ramsey; brothers: Bobby, Cliff, Howard and Johnny Conard; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park, with military graveside rites provided by the NC National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:15 2:45 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
