James A. "Jim" Marshall

James Jim A. Marshall, 64, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his residence. A native of Mountain City, TN he resided in the Spring Creek community of Hot Springs for the past 34 years. He was a member of Lusk Chapel Baptist Church. Jim was passionate about teaching math for many years to high school and college students across WNC and most recently at AB Tech. Mr. Marshall was the son of the late Robert and Anna Beckes Marshall. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Janet Johnson Marshall; brother, Bob Marshall and wife Tania of Bonita, CA; nieces: Erika Marshall Ulring and husband Nathan, and their 2 children, Owen and Marion, and Heather Marshall all of California; mother-in-law, Barbara D. Johnson of Alexandria, VA now residing in Williamsburg, VA; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Johnson Burton and husband T. Neal of Pittsfield, Mass, and Robin Johnson Moscati of Williamsburg, VA, and her son and daughter-in-law, William and Alex Moscati of Virginia Beach, VA; and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will be on Thursday at 10 AM in the Woody Cemetery in Spring Creek, Madison County. The family will receive friends from 5-6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
