Candler - Jack Wendell Dezern, 66, passed away Saturday May 16, 2009 at his home after an extended illness. A native of Wilmington, he had resided in Buncombe County for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Upper Hominy Volunteer Fire Department. He had retired from Casey Chevrolet in New Port News, VA and Colbond Corp. in Enka. He was the son of Dorothy Delores Shively of Hampton, VA and the late Romie Wendell Dezern and was also preceded in death by grandsons, Michael Breedlove and Kaleb Smith and brothers: Jimmy and Jerry Dezern. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda Dezern of the home; daughter, Lori Breedlove and husband Willie of Candler; son, Lary Dezern of Candler; grandchildren, Amanda and Dakota Breedlove; sister, Jane Barrett of Hampton, VA; mother-in-law, Betty Arrington; and several aunts and uncles including his favorite uncle, Ronnie Cavanaugh. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorials Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Moretz officiating.
