Asheville Hugh Jackson Jack Banks, Sr., 82, of 43 Cub Road, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from the City of Asheville and attended Cedar Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Banks was a son of the late Thomas Ezekiel Banks and Tennie Burleson Banks. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Ann Banks; grandson, Jason Banks and four siblings. Surviving are his wife whom he married May 2, 1958, Shirley Bishop Banks of the home; children, Jack Banks, Jr. of Barnardsville, Debra Cannon and husband Mike of Asheville, Ricky Banks and wife Revonda of Candler and Randy Banks and wife Lisa of Asheville; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Dardugno of Pryor, OK, Louise Bryan of Beltsville, MD, Ann Luther of Candler and Betty Jean Preston of King; brothers, Lyn Banks and wife Annie and Riley Banks and wife Willie Mae all of Barnardsville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Collins and Pastor Roger Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:45 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
