Asheville - L.W. Jack McMinn, Jr., 84, died Saturday March 22, 2008 at his home after an extended illness. He retired from Matthews Ford following 38 years of service as a body repairman. He enjoyed racing and flying as an acrobatic pilot in the Asheville and Hendersonville area and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Mr. McMinn served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a member of Anderson Chapel Church of God in Hendersonville. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Young McMinn; son, Gene McMinn and wife Donna; daughters, Glenda Murdock, Jackie Elmore and husband Louis and Rhonda Purcell and husband Tim; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
