Jack Glenn

December 4, 1924 — July 4, 2018

Asheville Jack Starnes Glenn, 93, passed peacefully July 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He served in the US Navy during WWII, coming home to complete his education, and with the GI Bill was able to go to Wake Forest University where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English. Upon his completion, he married his child bride, Eva Jane Ramsey Glenn, whom he married June 6, 1952 and just had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. He was a Golden Gloves local boxing champ and boxed while serving in the Navy and was affectionately known as Punchy. Mr. Glenn retired, having served his career as a Real Estate agent, Pharmaceutical Rep for Schering Corp. and former owner of Service Drugs. He was a member and deacon of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Asheville. He was the son of the late Frank Cover Glenn and Lucille Starnes Glenn. He was also preceded in death by his four siblings, Frank, Frances, Betty Jean and Harold. Surviving in addition to his wife are his four daughters, Debora Glenn Ridino and husband Ruggero of Charleston, SC, Jacque Glenn of Cruso, Tina Glenn of Asheville and Vixi Jill Glenn of Leicester; grandchildren, Keri, Sealanna, Joshua, Elijah, Maeve, Kelti, Lacy, Jack Glenn and Jonathan and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 13, 2018 at Lewis Memorial Park with Military rites to be conducted by the US Navy. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:00 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Jack Glenn was indeed a scholar and gentleman and a bit of a rascal.
