Jack G. Williams

Leicester Jack Glenn Williams, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he served in the US Navy, retired from the US Postal Service, was a member of Newfound Baptist Church and was in the first graduating class of Clyde A. Erwin High School. Mr. Williams was a son of the late Frank James Williams and Dorothy Denton Williams. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Christine Carver Williams of the home; sons, Jeff Williams and wife Ann of Leicester and Dwight David Williams and wife Misook of Hong Kong; grandchildren, Lexia Williams, Shannon Williams, Drew Merten, Dylan Williams and Dakota Williams; great grandson, Liam Merten; siblings, Helen Knighten, Kay Jones and husband Clyde, Marsha Honeycutt and husband Pete, J.D. Williams and wife Doris and Leon Williams and wife Nancy all of Buncombe County and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 3 PM Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Newfound Baptist Church with Revs Gene Roberts and Dwight Williams officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home of NC, 204 Idol Street, Thomasville, NC 27360.
