J.D. Worley

Leicester - James Dilly Worley, 87, of 498 Newfound Road, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Magnolia Health Care Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from American Enka Corporation in 1984 following 45 years of service. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, member of the Pioneer Club of American Enka, and member of Hominy Masonic Lodge #491. He was a graduate of Leicester High School in the last class before consolidation and a former Baseball Commissioner of the Leicester Little League Association. He was a son of the late Barnard Wade and Laura Lavada Wright Worley and the husband of Ruth H. Hoglen Worley who died June 25, 1984 and Marguirite Mamie Cole Worley who died May 8, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Sam and Tom Worley. Surviving are his sons, David James Worley and wife Kay of Colorado Springs, CO and Charles Robert Worley and wife Verna of Leicester; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Marjorie Summey both of Asheville and Juanita Atkins of Barnardsville; 3 grandchildren, Joey and Kelly Worley of Colorado Springs and Brandon Worley of Canton; 3 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Mrs. Kathy Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Canton with Mason Graveside Rites conducted by Hominy Masonic Lodge #491. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
