Howard Lee Simpson

Asheville - Howard Lee Simpson, 85, of Rock Hill Rd. died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, S.C. following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was former owner & operator of the Simpson Lumber Company, was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Navy W.W. II veteran. He was the son of the late William Banner Simpson and Lillian Taylor Simpson and was also preceded in death by his daughter Marilyn Simpson Lunsford. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Herron Simpson of the home; son, Jimmy L. Simpson and wife, Reta P. of Georgetown, S.C.; son-in-law, Bud Lunsford of Georgetown, S.C.; grandchildren, Cheryl Andrews, Keith Lunsford, Dawn Kanarish, Dwaine Simpson and Alisa Lunsford; five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs Bill Nelson and Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
