Herman Stone

Hendersonville Herman George Stone, Sr., 86, of 162 Piney Ridge Drive, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Danville, Virginia, Mr. Stone had resided in Henderson County for most of his life. He retired in December 1981 as a Quality Control Assurance Representative for the U.S. Defense Department. He was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church and was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid Boy Scout Leader and had served as Scout Master under his leadership of two different Jamboree Troops, having attended in Washington State and Pennsylvania. Mr. Stone was the son of the late George Pryor Stone and Ola Gertrude Sutton Stone. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Doris Lee Hunter Stone of the home; children, Larry Stone of Murrells Inlet, SC, Marcia Brooks of Clayton, George Stone, Jr. of Asheville, David Stone of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Stone of Hendersonville and Susan Merrill of Fletcher; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Friday, November 2, 2012 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Stephen Ray officiating.
