Herman Hoyle King

January 19, 1930 — October 2, 2006

Leicester Herman Hoyle King, 76, of 93 Gorman Rd. passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a Carpenter and of the Baptist faith. Mr. King was the son of the late Claude O. and Lelia Ledbetter King. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin and Pelvin King; sisters, Rachel Meadows, Fronnie King and Rennie Sharpe; grandson, David Alan White and daughter-in-law, Ivarene King. Surviving are his daughters, Peggy Lackey and husband, William of Leicester and Joyce Angelia Casey of Asheville; sons, Herman D. King and wife, Mary of Leicester and David Ray King of Candler; sister, Kizzie Messer of Leicester; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Davis and Rev. Sam King officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with his grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.
