Naples, FL Herbert Spencer, 85, of Naples, FL, and formerly of Albany, GA, Greenville, SC, and Portsmouth, NH, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2014 at Vitas Hospice. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. Herb and his wife Stella were married 65 years and together presided over an adoring family, including one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Herb was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Army serving as a U.S. Army Chaplain, including two campaigns in Vietnam. His greatest joy was to be known as The Troops Chaplain. After retiring from the Army, he served as Pastor of Alliance Churches in Albany, GA and Naples, FL. Herb is survived by his wife Stella of Naples, FL; son, Jeff Spencer and wife Judi of Dallas, TX; son, Norman Spencer and wife Marilyn, and daughter Sally Stone of Nottinghamshire, England; daughter, Renee Spencer of Naples, FL; grandson, Thomas Spencer and wife Jessica of Naples; great-grandsons: Joshua, Taeven, and Cameron of Naples; and numerous nieces and nephewsand Daddys dog, his beloved Libby. One of his favorite sayings when parting company with someone was, Ill see you here, there, or in the air. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Gould officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
