Helen Silver Hembree, 87, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Emerald Ridge Rehab and Care Center. Helen was a native of Madison County, NC and lived most of her life in Asheville. She was the daughter of the late Offie and Teakie Capps Silver and of wife of the late Charles Hembree. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Junior and J.D. Silver. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and secretary for many years. Helen was a devoted Christian and loved to share Gods word with her children, grandchildren and whom ever she met. Helen is survived by her, son, Jim Hembree and wife, Debby, daughters, Charlene McKinney and husband, Phil, Glenna Jones and husband, Mike, granddaughters, Julie Welch, Meghann McKinney and Rebekah Hembree, grandsons, Chris McKinney, Kenny Jones and Jesse Hembree, great grandson, Colton McKinney, sisters, Alma Metcalf and Doris Culbertson, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 11, 2011 with the Rev. Mark Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Sluder Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9PM Monday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
