Asheville Helen Carolyn Hilton Moore, 78, passed away Monday, April 14, 2008 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center. She was born in Knoxville, TN on August 27, 1929 and moved to Asheville as a child. She retired from Car Quest Automotive in 1991. Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late Jack Lacy Hilton, Sr. and Mamie Ellen Irwin Hilton. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy Lou Hilton and Betty Mae Simonds; and her brother, Jack Lacy Hilton, Jr. Surviving are her daughters: Sandra Bowers and husband Jerry of Asheville, and Judy Blankenship and husband Rev. Gary Blankenship of Bethune, SC; grandson, Rev. Craigan Blankenship and wife Keri of Westville, SC; two great-grandchildren: Hannah and Cayden Blankenship; and sisters: Mary Hensley and husband Glen of Mauldin, SC, Irene McHone and husband Roy David of Asheville, and June Whitt and husband James of Mars Hill. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Everette C. Haney, Jr. and Rev. Dr. Keith Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Roger Price, Allen Whitt and James Whitt will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center for the love and care extended to Helen during her illness.
