Helen Black

November 26, 1932 — March 18, 2010

CANDLER Mary Helen Suddreth Black, 77, went to be with her Lord Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Henderson County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Black was a daughter of the late Burley Azor Suddreth and Mamie Gertrude Setzer Suddreth and wife of William Buddy Black who died July 23, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Onnie OKelley, Alma Lindsey and Annie OKelley and brother, Lane Suddreth. Surviving are her son, Kim Black & wife, Susan of Candler; daughter, Alisa Sloop & husband, Larry of Asheville; grandchildren, Adam, Rachel and Joshua; sisters, Mabel Reynolds & husband, Tommy and Glenna McCoy & husband, Mack; brothers, Wayne Suddreth & wife, Nancy and B.A. Suddreth & wife, Beulah. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 7:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
