Hazel Reid Howell

Asheville - Hazel Marie Snelson Reid Howell, 73, of 37 Casselberry Drive went to be with her Lord, Saturday April 10, 2004 at Asheville Specialty Hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired in 1989 from American Enka / BASF following 29 years of service. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Randolph Snelson and Elsie Sarah Collins Snelson Sumner. She was also preceded in death by sister, Golda Hendricks; brother, Alan Snelson, step father, J.L. Sumner and grandson, Jason Reid. Surviving are her husband, John Forrest Howell of Asheville; daughter, Janet Reid and Fiance Tony of Asheville; sons, David Reid and wife Barbara of Clearwater, FL., Mike Reid and wife Dana of Canton and Vince Howell and wife Marlene of Mars Hill; 7 grandchildren, Gayle Quick, April Scharett, Carla Moore, Shannon Reid, Cody Reid, Shaina Lewis and Trevor Howell; 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, David R. Snelson and wife LaVada and Philip Snelson and wife Ellen all of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Hazel was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Devoted Friend and was loved by all that knew her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Kilby officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
