Hazel Phillips Candler

Asheville - Hazel Phillips Candler, 82, of 27-A Trillium Ct. died Friday, November 9, 2001 at St. Josephs Hospital after a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County, she had lived in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was the wife of the late Everette Jerome Candler. Surviving are her daughter, Melba Riddle of Weaverville; sons, Gene Candler and David Candler both of Asheville, and Gerald Candler of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Nettie Metz of Barnardsville; brother, Baxter Renfro of Asheville; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday in Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Southern officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
