Hazel Buckner Kent

ASHEVILLE Hazel Buckner Kent, 81, of 1 Birchwood Lane passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her home. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She retired in 1993 from Bell Elementary School where she served in the cafeteria and later served with VHP and CarePartners for many years. She was a loving wife and mother and one who always placed her family and friends ahead of herself. She was a member of East Asheville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kent was a daughter of the late Elmore Buckner and Lola Carter Buckner and wife of A.B. Kent who died in 1991. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Elroy Buckner who died in 1998. Surviving are her daughters, Terri Robinson of Black Mountain, Pat Cole and husband Tony of Candler, Libby Sidell and husband Bruce of Bel Air, MD; five grandchildren; two great grandsons; sister, Gladys Graham and husband Fred and brother, Frank Buckner and wife, Grace all of Alexander; and sister-in-law, Ella Buckner of Weaverville. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Benton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.
