Asheville - Harry B. Williams lost his battle with Parkinsons Disease Monday, February 5, 2007 and has gone on beyond to wait for his wife, the former Phyllis Loynd. Born March 13, 1937 in Hampton, TN to the late Robert Taylor and Myrtle Louise Hill Williams, he was proceeded in death by his sisters: Betty Williams, Josephine Williams, and Helen Atkins; and brother, Richard Williams. Harry served four years in the Gyroscope 1st Echils Machine in the motor pool of the 5th Infantry Division of the US Army in Japan, Germany, Suez Canal, Alaska and Hawaii. After returning from the Army, he resided in Buncombe County. He was an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Weaverville Ward. He was a previous First Councilor in the Asheville Central Ward. Harry was a former employee of Anvil Knit and retired from Lustar Dying and Finishing in 1996. Harry will always be remembered by his family and friends for his great sense of humor. He was an avid guitar player. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Maretta Mori of Black Mountain; three grandchildren: DeWayne Guzman of Swanannoa, Sgt. Leo Guzman and wife Robin of Fort Lee, VA, and Romeesa Fore and husband Billy of Hopewell, VA; two great-grandchildren: Alexis and Tristan Guzman of Fort Lee, VA; sisters: Dianna Thomas and Carrie Carver, both of Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law, Gladys Williams of Weaverville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Bishop Robert D. Collier and Bishop Malcolm Reeves officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Thursday at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Dedication of the grave will be by Bishop Malcolm Reeves. The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
