Black Mountain – William Harold Parham, 87, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Marjorie McCune Center in Black Mountain. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Parham had resided in Baltimore, MD for many years before returning to Buncombe County three years ago. He retired from Bethlehem Steel as an electrical troubleshooter, as well as owned his own home improvement business. He referred to himself as the “Hillbilly Doctor,” and will forever be remembered as a Jack of All Trades. Mr. Parham was the son of the late Johnny Porter and Minnie Pearl Gillespie Parham. He was also preceded in death by his son, William Keith Parham; grandson, Adam Sterling Sayers; sisters: Wanda Parham Bays and Margie Parham Kennebrew; and brother, David Max Parham. Surviving are his daughter, Darlene James and husband William Joseph James, Sr.; grandchildren: Gerald Wayne Sayers, Jr., Crickit Lynn Kelley, and William Joseph James, Jr.; five great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandson; sister, Alice Sprinkle; brother, James Wilburn Parham; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Newfound Baptist Church, with the Pastor Bradley Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A Time of Gathering will occur from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Thursday at the church.
