Harold "Papaw" Calloway

November 23, 1928 — February 2, 2011

Asheville Harold Edward "Papaw" Calloway, 82, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at his home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was co-owner and operator of Tarmat/Calloway's Parking Lots, Inc. Mr. Calloway was a hard working, kind and loving husband and daddy. He was the son of the late Zebulon and Allie Belle Coleman Calloway and was also preceded in death by daughter, Linda Jones; son, David Calloway; brothers, Roy, Kenneth, Robert and Herman Calloway and sister, Lillian Lanning. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Juanita Austin Calloway who he married July 6, 1948. ; children, Steve Calloway and wife Susan of Asheville, Danny Calloway of Asheville and Pam Cordell and husband John of Candler; daughter-in-law, Lynn Calloway-Deloi of Asheville; sisters, Betty Fowler, Thelma Calloway and JoAnn McMahan all of Asheville and the biggest fan and loving Papaw to his 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Terry Herren officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: Friendship Baptist Church, 240 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
