Harold John Moore Sr.

Asheville - Harold John Moore, Sr., 66, of 39 Hemphill Road, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at St. Josephs Hospital. A native of Yancey County, NC. He had resided in Buncombe County for the past 45 years. He was a carpenter, a member of Reynolds Baptist Church and was an U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a son the late Harvey and Ethel Fender Moore. Surviving are his wife, Malena Maria Jordan Moore of the home; sons, John Moore, Jr. of the home and Tony Moore of Fairville, NC; granddaughter, Maria Ann Moore; grandsons, Robert John Moore and Joshua Erik Moore; sisters, Maybelle Whitaker of Swannanoa, Cyleen Moore of Fletcher, Louise Harris of Hoopers Creek, Joann Hall of Lexington, NC, Maxine Barnwell of Hendersonville, Marthene Shelton of Brevard and Vickey Ellison of Anniston, AL; brothers, Ottis Moore of Old Fort and James Moore of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Dean Huggins officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
