Harold Brown

Asheville - Harold Randall Brown, 64, of 21 New Hope Road, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Born in Anchorage, AK, he grew up in Candler. He was currently employed with Burdette Beckmann, Inc., serving as a Director of Retail. He served as a Football Official for the Western NC Sports Officials for over 30 years, was a 1970 graduate of Enka High School, a 1995 graduate of Western Carolina University where he received a B.S. Degree in Sociology, was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired from the US Army where he served from April 1, 1971 to June 10, 1986. Mr. Brown was a son of Daisy Eloise Dahl Brown of Candler and the late Billy Franklin Brown. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susanna Brown. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife whom he married October 5, 1971, Sandra Renison Brown of the home; children, Melissa Brown Taylor (Brad) of Asheville, Chris Brown (Tamara) of Asheville, Amanda Brown Maney (Seth) of Granite Falls, NC and Ginny Brown Presley of Asheville; grandchildren, Nikolas, Noah, Cayden, Nathaniel, Carter, Sydnee, Ella and Olivia; sisters, Patricia Skidmore, Margaret Suddreth (Jim) and Barbara StGermain (Gene); brothers, Johnny Brown (Linda) and Ronnie Brown (Regina); mother-in-law, Christine Renison of Asheville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Watkins and Chaplain Butch Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow in Redmon Family Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
