Grover N. Sherrill

Asheville - Grover Nelson Sherrill, 89, of 200 Tunnel Road went to be with his Lord Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Asheville V.A. Medical Center. A native of Swain County. He had resided in Buncombe County most of his life and was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran, having received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Mr. Sherrill is a son of the late William Grover and Della Hyde Sherrill and husband of the late Josie Mae Grant Sherrill. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Sherrill. Surviving are his brother, Fred G. Sherrill and wife Kathleen; step-daughter, Shirley Ann Bryant; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Ruby Mae Grant Crook, Emily Williamson & Debra Hyatt and Daniel & Raymond Crook and special friend, William Poore. Graveside services will be held 2 P.M. Monday at William Jenkins Cemetery in Bryson City with Brother Paul Roberts officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Steve Youngdeer Post #143 American Legion. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
