Gregory Lee Livengood, Major, Us Army (Ret)

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gregory Lee Livengood, a beloved member of the Asheville, NC community. Gregory passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the young age of 50.

Gregory was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having enlisted in 2001 after obtaining his master’s degree from Western Carolina University. He served his country honorably until 2013 retiring as a Major. He held many titles while in the service. Gregory was a respected leader and was the recipient of numerous military awards for his service. He was passionate about traveling and had visited every state in the U.S. except North Dakota. Most importantly, Gregory cherished his family.

Gregory is survived by his parents, Fred Livengood and Linda Livengood; his sister, Kimberly Joy Livengood; his Uncle, Rick Anderson; along with many cousins and other immediate family members.

Services to honor and celebrate Gregory’s life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2 pm in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Rev. Steve Rhinehart, and burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
