Grant "Bill" Owen

Asheville Grant W. Owen, (known to family and friends as Bill), passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Golden Living Center at the age of 91. To cherish him in memory he leaves his wife of 66 years, Mrs. Mildred L. Westall Owen; a son Timothy Grey Owen (his dads caregiver for all his months of illness); two daughters, living out of state, Deidra Fay Owen Yap, and Dahloan Celeste Owen Hembree and her husband Ron Hembree; seven grandchildren and three great granddaughters. Bill was a retired postal-carrier, working in Asheville until his retirement. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army overseas. He was born in Bristol, Virginia to Leslie and Eula Owen, his Mom and Dad who are deceased. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Rex; and a foster brother, Tommy Robertson. Siblings still living are a brother Gordon, and a foster brother Donald Robertson. There will be no Formal Services. Bill and Mildred believe: The life lived is the sermon preached. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, February 17, 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will gather to receive friends from 10:45 11:45 AM Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Those wishing to remember Bill with a tribute can do so to an organization of their choice.
