Arden Grace Mae Butler Baker, 87, passed away Sunday August 21, 2005 at Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center following a long illness. Mrs. Baker was a lifelong resident of Arden and the daughter of the late Pierce Martin Butler and Henrietta Elizabeth Pressley Butler. She was the wife of Earl Baker who died in 1986 and was also preceded in death by her grandson, Dean Harrison Lance, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Mrs. Baker retired from Eaton Corp., was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and was an avid music lover and loved to dance. Surviving are her daughter, Earlene Cullen and husband, Norwood of Arden; grandsons, Jeff Lance and wife, Rhonda of Mills River and Joel Lance and friend, Zita Breeden of Flag Pond, TN; great grandson, Patrick Harrison Lance of Mills River; sister, Peggy Moss of Skyland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Elder Jim Hakes of Arden Seventh-day Adventists Church officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Skyland. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
