Grace Jenkins

FAIRVIEW - Grace Gaddy Jenkins, 86, of Old Fort Road, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Salisbury, MD, Mrs. Jenkins had resided in Buncombe County all of her life. She retired in 1990 from CP Clare Company with over 35 years of service, and had worked for twelve years as a Greeter at Wal-Mart on Tunnel Road. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Jenkins was the daughter of the late James Clem and Stella Irene Harris Gaddy, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Velma Chatham; and brothers: James D. and David Gaddy. Surviving are her husband, Robert M. Jenkins, of the home; sons: James Jim Jenkins and wife Shirley of Candler and Richard Jenkins of Fairview; sister, Jane Duke of Asheville; 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Cane Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the John F.
