Gerald Harold Robinson

April 10, 1938 — January 17, 2013

Asheville Gerald Harold Robinson, 75, of 16 Dove Tree Lane passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 17, 2013 surrounded by his family. Gerald was a native of Madison County and had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He attended Clyde A. Erwin High School where he we was in the first graduation class. While in High School, he lettered in Basketball and was active in many activities. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the 78th Engineer Battalion and was stationed for three years in Klarsrue, Germany. While stationed in Germany, he received many medals for his marksmanship as a Sharp Shooter and also played on the Armys Basketball Team. Upon returning from duty, he worked at Robinson Brothers Used Cars, Matthews Ford, Dorato Dodge and where later retired from Bill & Eds Auto Sales. Gerald knew cars and all the sports activities relating to cars and racing. He loved to watch racing and all sports games on TV and remained very involved in their enjoyment. He was a faithful follower of UNC Basketball and all the national teams. Although his mobility was very limited in retirement, he enjoyed many hobbies. He was the son of the late Webb and Luna Griffin Robinson, both formerly of Madison County and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Robinson and Webb Robinson, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Nell Wilson Robinson and his only daughter, Cathy Ann Robinson; brother, Bill Robinson and wife Pat; sister, Barbara Jean Moore and husband David; sister-in-law, Nancy Robinson and her children, Beth Jaekle and husband Howard and their children, Madeline and Megan Jaekle and Amy Jane Robinson and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Victory Baptist Church, 80 Olivette Road with Rev. Mark Chase and Rev. Larry Sprinkle officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in Rhodes Cemetery, Old Leicester Highway. The family would like to thank CarePartners Hospice for their loving care and support with a special thanks to Berta Triana for her superb care and guidance and to Dr. John Langlois for his dedication and attention.
