Georgia Wright Mcelreath

March 24, 1924 — April 11, 2010

Asheville/Denver, NC After celebrating her 86th birthday on March 24, Georgia reunited with her heavenly family on April 11, 2010. Georgias strong will and faith has been an inspiration to all of her family and friends. She was at peace and surrounded by those she loved. She celebrated Easter Sunday with her family. At her bedside, everyone shared her faith, strength, and sense of humor, all while reminiscing about fond memories. We consider this a blessing, that her entire family could be witness to her legacy. Georgia grew up in Asheville. She was known as a caring and generous person. While her husband worked as a housing contractor, Georgia concentrated on raising their family. After retirement, they both worked at the Eliada Home for Children. After his death, she also volunteered making hand-crafted angels for Mission Hospital Neo-Natal Unit and Angels Flights. Her hobbies were reading, sewing and fishing. She was a dedicated Christian, wife, mother and grandmother. She was with and is survived by her children, Joyce McElreath Reid and husband Charles Reid of Denver; Lewis B. McElreath, Jr. and wife Nongyao Luck McElreath of Asheville; grandchildren, Melonee Brock of Denver, Natalie Cauble and husband Tim Cauble of Mt. Pleasant, Samantha Powell and husband Eric Powell of Mooresville, Paul McElreath and wife Kristen Shring McElreath of Asheville; great grandchildren, Andrew Ross, Derek and Taylor Brock, Anna Cauble, Matthew, Jackson, Timothy and Benjamin Powell and Katelyn Shring. She is also survived by four sisters, Gloria Cumbia and husband Robert Cumbia of Edenton; Katheleen Almeda of West Memphis, AR, Betty Jean (Jena) Kelejian of Sandston, VA and Mary Frances Neumann and husband Glenn Neumann of Bradenton, FL. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis B. McElreath, Sr.; parents, Georgia and Cecil Wright, Sr. and brothers, Cecil Wright Jr. (Buck) and Geary B. Wright. The family would like to thank all of the healthcare providers who cared for our loved one during her final days. They were a blessing, not only for Georgia, but for us as well. Funeral services will be held at Anders-Rice Funeral Home on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2 PM. Receiving will be one hour before services. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pastor Stewart Humphrey will be presiding over the services. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Ross, Derek Brock, Paul McElreath, Eric Powell, Matthew Powell and Tim Cauble. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben, Jack & Tim Powell and Mike & Brendan Hale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
