Lake Lure George Hamrick Pressley, 78, of 1192 Memorial Highway, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Pressley had resided in Lake Lure for over 20 years. He was a 1962 graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. Mr. Pressley retired in 1994 from the Square D Corporation, serving as Plant Manager in Asheville, and as General Manager in Clearwater, FL. He was a member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church and was an avid golfer. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving with the rank of Captain. Mr. Pressley was the son of the late William Blaine and Georgia Hamrick Pressley. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara Jane Taylor Pressley, whom he married February 27, 1960. Surviving are his son, Blaine Pressley and wife Tammy of St. Thomas, PA; granddaughters: Tara Neri and husband Serge of Charlotte and Katie Pressley of Wilmington; great-granddaughter, Aubrie Neri; brothers: William B. Pressley, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and Thomas A. Pressley and wife Annette of Cincinnati, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gene Daggerhart and Mr. Richard Hurley officiating. Private interment services for the family will be held later in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM 12:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to offer a special Thank You to Terresa Lunsford for her love and care given to Mr. Pressley for the past several years.
