George Burgan Morrow Sr.

Fairview - George Burgan Morrow, Sr., 88, of 308 Main Street, Byers Park, Fairview was called home to be with the Lord Saturday morning, January 14, 2006 at the home of his son at 23 King George Drive in Fairview where he had resided since October of 2005. He was a native of Buncombe County and a veteran of World War II. He was a son of the late John Baxter Morrow and Zadie Wilson Morrow. He was preceded in death by his wife Nanna Bateman Morrow who died in 2002. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 83 years where he formely served as Choir Director for 41 years and also Sunday School Teacher. His lifelong work was as a Building Contractor for 66 years. Those left to cherish his memory are his only son, George Burgan Morrow, Jr. and his wife Jo Anna of Fairview. His grandchildren, Tammy Phillips and husband J.C., George B. Morrow, III (Heath) and wife Becky, Nichole Galbraith and husband Mike all of Fairview. George Daniel Morrow (Danny) and wife Lorri and Teresa Williams of Asheville, 9 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Veenie Ledbetter of Saluda, Pat Goforth, Martha Lee and Katherine Sales of Fairview, Betty Sales of Texas. Brothers, Charles Morrow of Washington, Broadus, Thurl Morrow of Fairview and Troy Morrow of Asheville and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The Reverends Jim Whitted, Bobby Smith and Chester Owenby will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O.
