Geneva Roberts

April 26, 1928 — April 3, 2017

Asheville Geneva Eveleen Gosnell Roberts, 88, went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Marjorie McCune Memorial Center. A native and resident most of her life of Buncombe County, she was a devoted wife and mother, and was a former member of Emma Christian Missionary Alliance Church and had attended Jones Town Baptist Church in Woodfin. Mrs. Roberts was a daughter of the late Lee Roy Gosnell and Claudia Veil Ammons Gosnell and wife of Elvert Marion Roberts, Sr. who died March 10, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Pender, Howard and Herman Gosnell. Surviving are her daughters, Debra Balding and husband Keith of Spring Creek and Linda Brisson and husband Johnny of Fairview; sons, Elvert Roberts, Jr. and wife Sheila of Leicester and Bro. Paul Roberts of Old Fort; sister, Leona Sumner of Greenville, SC; brothers, Harley Gosnell of Hickory and Vance Gosnell and wife Mary of Weaverville; grandchildren, Thaddeus Roberts and wife Tracy, Matthew Roberts and wife Mandy, Jennifer Haney and husband Nick and Brittney McHone and husband Justin; 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Chandler and Rev. Everette C. Haney, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home. A special thanks to the staff at Marjorie McCune Memorial Center for their love and support for the past few years.
