Flat Rock Gay Robinson, 83, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Charles George VA Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he resided in Buncombe County for more than 40 years prior to moving to Henderson County in 1998. He was a son of the late David Greenberry Robinson and Bessie Mae McIntosh Robinson. Mr. Robinson was also preceded in death by his son, Dale Robinson; 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. Mr. Robinson was a US Army Korean War Veteran and retired from RC Cola following 40 years of service and at the time of his retirement was the plant foreman. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, since 1964, where he served as deacon, treasurer, bus driver, custodian, grounds keeper, and on numerous building committees. Survived are his wife of 64 years, Frances Glen Robinson of the home; daughter, Glenda Morgan and husband, Gary of Flat Rock; daughter-in-law, Ronda Robinson of Longview, TX; grandchildren: Shea Taylor and husband Dustin of Mt. Pleasant, TX, and Ty Robinson of Longview TX, and; great-grandchildren: Kylan and Liam Taylor; sisters: Betty Ray of Mars Hill, Pansy Hathaway of Weaverville, and Inez Quinn of Leicester; brothers: Thomas Elic Robinson of Mills River, Rev. Cecil Robinson and wife Pat of Skyland, and Jerry Greenberry Robinson and wife Debbie of Fletcher; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Cody Sturgill and Rev. Cecil Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the NC National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services at the church.
