Garnet Kennerly

April 18, 1919 — May 12, 2006

Asheville Garnet Bryson Kennerly, 87, of 10 Beck Drive, went to be with her Lord Friday, May 12, 2006 at her residence following a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she, along with her late husband Ray, owned and operated their family farm for nearly 50 years. Her favorite pastimes included sewing and crocheting. She was a member of Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kennerly was the daughter of the late Elzia L. and Maude Johnston Bryson and the widow of Ray Kennerly, who passed away in 1989. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Darius B. Andrews, and her brothers, E. Boyd Bryson and Avery J. Bryson. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ann Parham and husband James W. Parham of Asheville; granddaughter, Krista Parham Neri of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday at Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Clements officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 11:30 Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Dix Creek Chapel UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Barbara Gibson, PO Box 16178, Asheville, NC 28816.
