G. Alan Clark

December 20, 1946 — October 31, 2024

Asheville – G. Alan Clark, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Elizabeth House following a brief illness.


A native of Madison County, he resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a son of the late Gerald M. Clark and Geneva Rice Clark. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Michael Clark.


Alan was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a longtime member of Foster Memorial Church where he served faithfully and fervently all his life. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid collector, especially of historical items.


Alan worked in the thermal imaging and instruments industry all his life, having started his career with Taylor Instruments and then working with Palmer Wahl where he recently retired. He had a close relationship with many of his co-workers, referring to many as his extended family.


Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers: Charles Clark and wife Susan, Larry Clark, Philip Clark and wife Brenda, and Greg Clark and wife Leslie; sisters-in-law: Judi and Anne; beloved nieces and nephews: Ann Marie Clark (Rusty), Annabel Clark, Savannah Wood (Matthew), Rowan Wood, Suzanne Smith (Chris), Maggie Smith, Landon Clark, Jeremy Clark (Danielle), Madelyn Clark, Colt Clark, Paul Clark (Samantha), Reilly Clark, Scott Clark, Vijay, and Ravi; special cousins: Barbara, Colleen, Gary, Brandon, and Debbie; and many extended family and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Patrick Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Peek-Dill Cemetery in the East Fork Community of Madison County.


The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the funeral home.
