Fred Kenneth Wilson

Asheville - Fred Kenneth Wilson, 90, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, July 5, 2019 at his residence. A native of Yancey County he had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was the son of the late George Washington Wilson and Rittie Jane Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Deaton Wilson; sisters: Helen Lanning, Evelyn Bagwell, and Helena Higgins; and brothers-in-law: Terry Spratling, Danny Deaton, and Carl Deaton. Mr. Wilson was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran, and later the Owner & Operator, along with his wife, of Fred Wilson Plumbing Company. As a plumbing contractor he trained many of the Asheville area plumbers, including his grandson Chad. He attended Blue Ridge Biker Church, and enjoyed Bluegrass music, of which the fiddle was his favorite instrument. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his daughter, Sherry W. Case and husband, Melvin of Black Mountain; sons, Mike Wilson and wife Linda of Alexander and Danny Hunter and husband Jarrod of Dunedin, FL; grandchildren: Brandi Bailey, Alisha Case, Chad Case, and Haley Wilson; great grandchildren: Lukas, Brendon, Tyler, and Hannah; sisters: Thelma Honeycutt and Jessie Woody both of Burnsville; sister-in-law, Linda Sluder and husband Jim of Asheville; brother-in law: Jack Deaton of Candler; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Memorial services will be held 6 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in the chapel of the Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Fultz and his son, Pastor Mike Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held 12 PM Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Timmy Burnette officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy. Family and friends will travel together, leaving at 11:30 AM, from Anders-Rice Funeral Home to the cemetery with an escort provided by the Patriot Guard Riders.
