Fred Franklin "Freddie" Price, 91, formerly of River Rouge, MI and Canton, NC. Died peacefully Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Westland Convalescent Ctr., Westland, MI with family at his side. Born Nov. 7, 1918, to the late Dolphus and Juliana Isabelle Price in Trust, NC. Husband of the late Edna Grooms Price, dearest father of E. Jeannene Smith (Wick) of Franklinton, NC, Fred D. Price (Wanda) of Atlanta, MI, Lynda K. Fowler (Gary) of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia A. Phillips (Larry) of Franklinton, NC, Terry R. Price (Cathy) of Howell, MI, Warren D. Price (Julie) of Canton, MI, and the late David L. Price (Vicki) Southgate, MI and "adopted" father of Walt Kendra. Grandfather of 20, and Great-Grandfather of 29. Also survived by brother Frank Price (Rita), sisters-in-law Hazel Bodziak, Ann Reeves and Joy Price, and many nieces and nephews. Remembered as a prolific gardener who shared vegetables and dahlias with many a neighbor, as a beloved father and devoted caregiver, for his ready smile, and most importantly as a man of faith with a strong sense of integrity. Mr. Price was very proud to share his birth date with the Rev. Billy Graham. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 25, 2010 in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, 1428 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC, with visitation from 6 to 8:30 PM Friday, September 24, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial at Little Sandy Methodist Church, with Terry Price officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mars Hill Memorial Team VFW Post #5483. Memorials to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association may be made in lieu of flowers.
