Asheville - Frankie Lee Browning Whittemore, 72, of 37 McKinney Road, died unexpectedly Tuesday - March 7, 2006 at home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was employed by Daniels Graphics for over 50 years. She attended Starnes Cove Baptist Church and was a rock in her Christian faith and witnessed to everyone. She loved to quilt and work in her flower garden. She was a daughter of the late Oakey Lee and Edith Rhymer Browning and the wife of the late George Riley Whittemore. She was also preceded in death by her son, George Riley Rocky Whittemore, Jr. and grandmother Roxie Rhymer. Surviving are her son, Eddie Whittemore and wife Teresa of Morganton; grandchildren, Salina Lee DArienzo and husband Nathan of Massena, NY and Jessica Robyn Whittemore of Black Mountain; great grandchild, Caleb Lee DArienzo of Massena, NY; sisters, Louise Coward and husband Taft of Candler and Midgie Rollins and husband J.C. of Black Mountain; 2 uncles, 1 aunt, several cousins and special friend Carolyn Dover. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Terry Burke and Charlie Sams officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, and at other times the family will be at Frankies home on McKinney Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
