Frank Mcmahan

December 10, 1930 — June 6, 2013

Asheville - Frank Erwin McMahan, 82, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013 following a long illness. Born in Asheville on December 10, 1930, Mr. McMahan was the son of the late Charles Lee McMahan, Sr. and Mable Clara Franklin McMahan. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel Lamb McMahan; sisters: Nell Franklin McMahan and Charlene McMahan; and brother, C.L. McMahan, Jr. Mr. McMahan served in the US Army during the Korean War, earning two Bronze Stars. He retired from BASF following 45 years of service, and was a life-long member and Deacon of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church. His humor, wisdom, and kind and gentle spirit will forever be missed. Surviving are his son, David McMahan of Asheville; sisters: Peggy Linville of Huntsville, AL and Patricia Walters of High Point, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special Thank You to Rony Boe, who took wonderful care of Mr. McMahan during his illness, as well as to the wonderful physicians and staff of Aston Park Health Care Center for the love and care he was given. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Oak Forest Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Aston Park Health Care Center, 380 Brevard Road, Asheville, NC 28806, or to the Alzheimers Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
