Asheville - James Frank Fisher, 81, died February 16, 2006 at the Asheville V.A. Medical Center. A native of Madison County, he had lived in Buncombe County since 1959. He retired in 1991 after 35 years as owner and operator of J. Frank Fisher Real Estate Appraisal, was the former owner and operator of Fisher Monument Co., formerly was employed as a deliveryman for Middlemount Florist and was employed with Bowman Funeral Home in Marshall for 8 years as a licesened funeral director and embalmer from 1944 to 1952. He was a former president of the Marshall Merchants Assoc., former member and Vice President of the Marshall Lions Club, former member of the West Buncombe Lions Club and former member and chairman of the Deacons at Victory Baptist Church. He was a 1942 graduate of Walnut High School, attended Mars Hill College and was a 1944 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member, deacon and former chairman of the financial committee at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Ronald Blueford and Cleta Boneta Howell Fisher and was also preceded in death by a brother, Reeves Fisher formerly of Marshall and infant sister, Elwyn Fisher. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth Baker Fisher of the home; son and daughter in law, Rev. R. Dale Fisher and Barbara Ford Fisher of Hudson; grandchildren, Matthew Fisher and wife Crispin of Nashville, TN., Jonathan and Ashley Fisher both of Hudson; sisters, Hope Rice of Marshall, June Freeman of Colfax and Averyl Baldwin of Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Russell, Rev. Dr. James Johnson and Rev. R. Dale Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to ABCCM, 30 Cumberland Av., Asheville, NC 28801.
