Francis Ingram

July 27, 1947 — September 8, 2017

Asheville Francis Dow Ingram, 70, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at Asheland Ridge Health and Rehab Center. A native of Sneads Ferry, NC, Mr. Ingram had resided in Wilmington for 48 years before relocating to Asheville in 2014. Mr. Ingram started his working career at the Wilmington Star News, and later, became managers for Western Auto and Shoe Show, before owning and managing Colonial Florist in Wilmington. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, active in the Jaycees and volunteered for various Hospice functions. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and floral arranging. Mr. Ingram was the son of the late Joseph Peyton and Ellen Ruth Riggs Ingram, and the husband of the late Alva Ingram, who passed away June 30, 2010. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Ester Hall, Sallie Ruth Edens, and Stella Mathis. Surviving are his son, Scott Ingram and husband Donnie of Asheville; sisters: Teresa Billings of Sneads Ferry, and Carolyn Gail Ingram of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial graveside will be held in the St. Francis Memorial Gardens of St. James Episcopal Church at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to ones local Hospice or humane society. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Mr. Ingrams family
