Frances Sparrow

Arden - Frances Carolyn Player Sluder Sparrow, 81, died Tuesday April 4, 2006 at the Emerald Ridge Health Care Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a graduate of Woodfin High School. She was a member of Long Shoals Baptist Church where she was very active in church functions and was past president of the WMU. She retired from the National Climatic Center after 37 years of service. She was a daughter of the late James Sylvester and Bessie Pearl Corn Player and was also preceded in death by husbands, Harry T. Sluder and James M. Sparrow. Surviving are her son, Tom Sluder and wife Carol of Duluth, GA; brother, Bud Player and wife Mildred of Asheville; granddaughter Jamie Sluder McCorvey of Valdosta, GA and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Long Shoals Baptist Church with the Revs. Roger Reardon and Coy Jeans officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
