Frances Carolyn Rice Langford

Weaverville – Frances Carolyn Rice Langford, 74, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Madison County, she resided in Buncombe County since the age of 7. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Robena Buckner Rice. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Anna Mae Hixon, James Rice, and Shelby Honeycutt and husband Homer; and sister-in-law, Kay Rice.

Mrs. Langford graduated from Clyde A Erwin High School in 1968 and worked for Bell South as an Administrative Assistant for 30 years until retirement in 1997. Following retirement, she joined her niece and sister to own and operate JFR Consignments where she was able to showcase her outstanding personality and eye for detail to help others find a bargain. She used her gifts of sewing and quilt making for many special occasions, and her beautiful creations were the highlight of many family reunions where they were raffled to loved ones. She also attended First Born Baptist Church where she loved to worship The Lord.

She was a loving and outgoing person, always striving to serve others above herself. In addition to her love of sewing she enjoyed many camping trips, and especially loved going to the beach and shopping. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 54 years, 11 months, and 18 days, Caroll Langford; children: Brandon Langford, and Heather Langford-Finley and husband Daniel; siblings: Eula Jo “Jody” Silver and husband Charles, Frank Rice, and Bruce Rice; sister-in-law, Hilda Rice; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Jamerson, Don Harrison, and Rev. Joshua Benfield officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 till 11 AM at the funeral home.
